Girls 'n Grace for Girls Like Us

My mom was so happy to give my sister and I two brand new books just last week. They arrived from Girls 'n Grace for us to review, written and created by Pam Davis, of Forth Worth, Texas. She is a Christian and mother of a young daughter.

The first book, Mesi: A Girl ’n Grace in Africa, is about a girl who lived in Africa who had a mother, father, big brother, and younger sister. Mesi (pronounced Maycee) learns to always trust God in all her hard times. For example, when her father's cocoa field catches on fire, because it was struck by lightening, Mesi helped to stop the fire. During the fire, her older brother hurt his foot and was burned very badly. He lay in bed for days, aching and in pain. Mesi did all she could to help her brother. Finally, they had to take him to a hospital, even though they knew they couldn't afford it. Mesi and her mother began work in a marketplace in order to earn money to pay the hospital bills.

Mesi had always loved to sew. Before she went to work, her grandmother gave her a bag of cloth to use. When she was waiting to sell the stuff in the shop, she would work on making a dress for her doll. A lady by the name of Miss Makeena came by and asked if she was making that dress to sell, because that was the best outfit she had ever seen. She offered to pay Mesi a lot of money if she would finish that dress for her. Miss Makeena also asked Mesi how many dresses she thought she could make in a few hours. Mesi said she could make one overnight.

Miss Makeena offered to pay her twice as much for the next dress. She returned the following day to pick up her dress. At that time, Miss Makeena met Mesi's mother and shared with her a surprise. She hoped to sell Mesi's dresses at her shop in Britain, and pay in advance for her work. With all the income from the shop in Africa and the sale of the dresses in England, Mesi and her mother were able to pay for her brother's hospital bills and also make it possible for Mesi to go to school.

I loved reading this book. It was so neat to read about Mesi and how she had to trust God. I am sure you would enjoy reading this book, too. You can order it from Amazon using the link below.

Keys for Kids

Keys for Kids is a devotional for kids, which comes in the mail every two months. It has devotions for every day. My family tries to read each devotion in the morning at breakfast time. The stories are a lot of fun and they also teach you good lessons. They ask helpful questions at the end of the story. There is also a key verse and a Scripture passage to read along with the story.

Sweet as a Lollipop

God's love is sweet like a lollipop. It is solid right through and tastes great. When you suck on a lollipop, doesn't it taste sweet to you? Don't you want more and more of it? That is what it is like when we taste God's love for us.

Do you know God's love? There is one way to find out about God and that is by reading your Bible. You can also go to church and talk to those who know about Jesus.

Did you know that Jesus is God's son? It is faith in Jesus that makes it possible to fully know God's love. God's love never leaves us when we know Jesus and call Him our Lord.

Do you want to have the sweet as a lollipop love of God? If you haven't accepted Jesus into your heart, you can do it today. Just look at this prayer below and you'll taste the sweetest thing ever.

Pray this...

Dear Jesus, I believe that you came to this earth, sent by your Father. You lived on this earth and then died on the cross, rising again on the third day. You came to save us from our sins. We cannot have a right relationship with God without your blood shed on the cross for us. Jesus, I believe you did this for me. I pray that you would come live in my heart and that I would become more like you. In Jesus Name, Amen.

A New Adventure...

My mom has a blog, Extravagant Grace, and as I've watched her do a lot of stuff to her blog, I've thought it looks really interesting. One day, I asked her if I could have a blog, too. She had originally said that we could do it when I get older and instead gave me some tips on how to write devotionals.

But then, one night, my mom and dad were talking and they decided it would be okay for me to have my own blog to do with her. So, here we are with a brand new blog, Bits of Grace, just for me and for other girls my age. I'm only 8 1/2, so I need lots of help from my mom, but we're going to do it together!
